The Navigatio series -

deals with the very nature of transience as the work shifts between a known position and unknown destination.

Island life can create a very particular outlook in terms of identity, the relationship with

mainland  is removed, in that the physical nature of the journey over oceans confirms the fact that we are on the edge, the periphery.

Irish art has always used this reference of perimeters, as a focus point.

It gives a view that is different to that of centre: be it, the boundaries of language, the brink of emotions, or on the fringes of painting, or film.

All question the inherent nature of the core by engaging with the periphery.

Modern life can and does dissolves this point of reference; nothing is in a fixed state regarding location, even an island out in the Atlantic is ephemeral.

This constant shifting allows us to look at previously fixed ideals, and established paradigms.
