Lonely Rock ( ongoing )

For years now the KISH has stood alone, automated and unmanned. It is one of a kind. Unique in Irish maritime architectural history. Seen by many, visited by few.

What sights and sounds wash against its structures?

What spirits haunt its curved walls?

What is it really like out there?

At the top of a lighthouse, life seems a little better, a little freer.....and you get a better idea of the surrounding danger.

Some have more to offer, especially those on the fringe,or extreme locations...

This is the story of one of those places. The Fastnet, a pinnacle surrounded by deep water on all sides, situated about four and a half miles south-west of Cape Clear, Co. Cork,is probably the most one of the most infamous of rock stations.

Skellig Michael lies 12 kilometres off Bolus Head, the western most tip of the Iveragh Peninsula, Co. Kerry, Ireland.

Early Christian monks believed that union with God could best be attained by withdrawal to isolated regions. Between the 6TH and 8TH centuries the island became an important spiritual retreat for a settlement of ascetic monks.
